Thanksgiving in Tahoe

Thursday morning my family and I woke up early and made our way up the mountain to South Lake Tahoe. After getting up slow, McDonalds, my tires deciding they needed air, and gas, we were on the road.

We were on the road by 6 and arrived at my aunt Heather’s by 9:30. When we got there, breakfast was being made and there was fresh coffee ready to be drank by yours truly. Having to be at the Thanksgiving buffet by 1, we were up and getting ready pretty quickly.

Our family and my uncle Brian’s side of the family met up at Harrah’s Hotel for a Thanksgiving buffet. Nothing beats ham, yams, and crab legs for Thanksgiving. And who can hate this view.

After eating, my parents, Ernesto and I went down to the casino floor. I didn’t feel quite ready for tables, so I stuck with slots. I turned $5 into $50 and felt incredibly pleased with myself. We headed back to my aunt’s and spent the rest of the night playing bingo and watching movies. We were all comfortably in bed by 11pm.

We woke up Friday morning to cereal and coffee, then quickly got on the road to Dayton.

My cousin Blake and me.

We headed out to Brian’s parents house for second Thanksgiving. At this point I had eaten enough food to last me three more days. I definitely had a quick nap on the couch before we headed back to Tahoe.

That night we had a snowball fight and a fun game of Pie Face.

If you plan to play this game, plan to have messy fun. My uncle Nick also introduced us to Merzbow. It’s hard to explain so I’ll just leave it at this: noise art.

Saturday morning started out slow with pancakes and coffee. We took it easy with a bit of shopping with my aunt Lisa and uncle Nick. I had the most delicious nachos at Gunbarrel Tavern.

That night we played an intense game of Pictionary. Ernesto and I were unstoppable! Afterwards we took a quick dip in the hot tub before heading to bed.

The word was Peso.

Sunday morning we went down to the lake shore and played in the snow. It was a lot of fun to slip around on the lake surface. We had pizza and hot chocolate at Blue Angel before heading back to the valley.

It was such a great weekend with my family. I loved seeing everybody and all in one place! I am definitely happy to be back in my bed and in the semi-warm valley, but I do miss my family. I can’t wait till next year!
